What is guided meditation? Guided meditation is simply “meditation with the help of a guide”. It’s one of the easiest ways to enter into a state of deep relaxation and inner stillness, and it’s one of the most powerful ways to eliminate stress and bring about positive personal changes.
“In guided meditation, our practice is shaped by another person’s voice. Because the mind has a tendency to wander where it will, many of us find it easier to focus and relax when our minds aren’t entirely left to their own devices. This form of meditation is often led by a (real live) guide in group settings, or by recordings presented on apps, podcasts, videos, CDs, etc.” Mindworks.org/blog
My story sounds crazy but I’m hoping once I explain things it will make a little more sense. This is not easy for me. I understand how this makes me look in the eyes of everyone around me, but I believe this is real and may be the only way to get my life back.
About 8 years ago my ex and I split up briefly. I was devasted. I mean truly heartbroken. He was the father of my kids, my soul mate, my best friend, my family and my future. We had been together at that time for about 12 years, since I was 19 years old. He moved out leaving me with 3 children the youngest of which only 2 years old. It was hard at first, I had been a stay at home mother for the majority of our relationship and didn’t have much of a social life. I would spend my nights lying awake staring at the ceiling obsessing over every little detail of our relationship and my life. I began corresponding with an old childhood friend whom I hadn’t spoken to or seen in damn near 20 years. It felt good to be complimented, if felt good to have someone who listened, it felt good to have a friend. I started working out. I taught myself yoga and for the “insomnia” at night I began teaching myself to meditate. I found a guided meditation track on youtube by Paul Santisi for deep sleep and wouldn’t you know it worked beautifully. I slept more soundly and woke up more rested. My whole overall general state of mind improved. I felt like I was finally doing something with my life. I was in control of my body. I was happy. Of course, my ex took notice and we began seeing each other again and it wasn’t long before he had moved back in with us. We were both using meditation but I was using it religiously, every single night to sleep and we were both really happy for a time.
I’m not really sure of Paul Santisis’ background or technique but I do know he uses solfeggio tones, binaural beats and subliminal repetition. So he’s guiding you into meditation with his voice and words while music plays in the background and under that music he is giving you positive suggestions over and over. I had never been hypnotized before and really wasn’t even sure that subliminal hypnosis worked or that it could be done by listening to a free youtube video. Real sleep and some positive words. What could go wrong?
